How to really appreciate the features of the best emergency Bell 429 Helicopter

The Bell 429 helicopter is synonymous now with the emergency services all over the world. They are extensively used for search and rescue missions to emergency evacuation services as well as to transport medical patients. Some of them are used as Coast Guards due to their rugged use capabilities and easy maneuverability.

The Bell 429 is a basic four-blade rotor with a soft in-plane flux beam. The rotor blades have a swept tip to reduce the noise with a wingspan of 36 feet and the tail rotors are made by stacking two sets of blades at uneven intervals, again to reduce the noise. However, the cabin space of the Bell 429 helicopter makes it the most perfect vehicle for transporting patients.

It has a combined cabin volume of 204 cubic feet with a 130 cubic feet for the passengers and a huge 74 cubic feet space for the baggage. This cabin has a flat floor which is best for easy patient loading and unloading. The doors also have a wide of almost 6 feet and a height of 4 feet to allow easy and quick access. This space can easily carry 5 passengers and 2 flight crew which is sufficient for any quick extraction and rescue operations.

The cabin of the Bell 429 is a glass cockpit, operated by a single pilot with a three-axis autopilot and flight director. The landing gears have retractable wheels which are optional with skids and can add five knots to the cruising speed of the aircraft. The normal side doors can also be converted into a rear clamshell door which can easily fit under the tail that makes for a much easier patient loading.

The main transmission of the Bell 429 needs an overhaul only after 5000 hours of operation while the tail rotor gearbox has a rating of 3200 hours of operation. It comes with two Pratt and Whitney engines that provide a 20000 feet operating ceiling at normal cruise speed to 150 knots with a maximum payload of 7000 pounds.
